Meet the Applied OLAP Team

Tim Tow

Tim is the founder and President of Applied OLAP and the visionary for the innovative Dodeca products. He has been working with Oracle Essbase since 1995. In addition to his role as President of the company Tim is a recognized expert in Essbase technology particularly the Java API and is an Oracle ACE Alumni. Tim was also one of the first Excel experts in the world to be recognized by Microsoft as a “Most Valuable Professional” for his contribution to the community of Excel users.

Prior to founding Applied OLAP, Tim had roles in finance as a consultant and financial analyst. He started his career as a Certified Public Accountant with Deloitte Haskins and Sells.

Tim received his Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from Central Michigan University.

Amelia Tate

Amelia is Vice-president of Software Development and Chief Software Architect. She joined Applied OLAP in 2003. Amelia is responsible for product design and implementation, and for coordinating development activities.

Prior to joining Applied OLAP, Amelia had over 15 years of application software development experience with Intergraph Corporation, Sentar, Inc., Message Media, and as an independent software consultant. Her experience includes developing B2C, plant design, document management, geographic information systems (GIS) software, and of-course, the Dodeca products.

Amelia received a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science and Psychology from the University of Tennessee-Martin.

Michael McCarty

Michael is Vice-president and Chief Operating Officer. He joined Applied OLAP in 2000. Michael is responsible for the administrative and operational functions of the company including finance, vendor management, partner relations, personnel, and intellectual property matters.

Prior to joining Applied OLAP, Michael served as general manager and president of venture capital –owned telecommunications and software businesses in the US and Argentina, Chief Financial Officer of Sargent-Welch Scientific Company, and as a Certified Public Accountant with Arthur Andersen & Co.

Michael received a Bachelor of Science degree in Accountancy and a Master of Business Administration from Northern Illinois University. Michael is a Qualified Predictive Index Analyst. He served several years as a member of the ODTUG finance committee.

Julie Jacobs

Julie is Vice-president of Business Development and Marketing. She joined Applied OLAP in 2014. Julie directs all aspects of the company’s sales and marketing activities. She works closely with the executive team and co-workers in developing and articulating the Dodeca value proposition.

Prior to joining Applied OLAP Julie had almost a decade of experience in sales and marketing with various Oracle Platinum partner designated consulting firms. Julie began her career as a Certified Public Accountant with Margolin, Winer & Evens LLP and held positions in industry including Director of Finance and Controller.

Julie received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Accounting with a minor in Economics from Queens College, CUNY. She serves the Oracle EPM community as a Board Member of the OATUG EPM/Hyperion Special Interest Group.

Jason Jones

Jason is Applied OLAP‘s Chief Security Officer and VP of Engineering. He joined Applied OLAP in 2016. His primary role is to support product development, leveraging his extensive technical expertise and industry knowledge.

Jason began his career with The Kroger Company as a store-level employee. He eventually worked his way up to the role of financial systems developer, working with the company’s Essbase team, including during the implementation of Dodeca. After 11 years with Kroger, Jason held positions as an application developer, solutions architect, and consultant with Symetra Financial, Advanced EPM Consulting, and Key Performance Ideas. Jason also founded his own company, Saxifrage Systems LLC, for which he developed Drillbridge. Drillbridge software handles drill-through requests from Oracle Smart View, Planning/PBCS, and Financial Reporting. Coincident with Jason joining Applied OLAP, the company acquired Drillbridge as an addition to its product line.

Jason has been recognized by Oracle with the “Oracle ACE” designation. His contributions to the community include various tools for the EPM ecosystem and numerous blog posts covering a wide variety of technical topics. He is also a frequent speaker at seminars, including the ODTUG Kscope conferences.

Jason holds a degree in Computer Science from the University of Washington.

Jason Jones’ Hyperion Blog

Tim Faitsch

Tim is a Pre-sales Solutions Specialist. He joined Applied OLAP in 2019. His primary role is to support the sales and marketing team. He regularly conducts Dodeca training classes and Dodeca webinars.

Tim began his career as an Essbase consultant and that has been his focus ever since. Tim is an Oracle Essbase 11 Certified Implementation Specialist. He’s worked in a variety of roles over the years in the financial services and retail industries.

Tim is an active member of the Essbase community and has been recognized as an “Oracle ACE”. He maintains an Essbase related blog, speaks frequently at user conferences and has been a regular contributor to various Essbase web forums over the past 20 years.

Tim holds a bachelors in Economics from Purdue University and an MBA in Finance from DePaul University.
